Let us start our Friday the 13th: The Game review with the statement that this is a video game, which is by far one of the best titles of the horror genre. Invincible Jason Voorhees is an iconic force of murder who is the highlight of this epic asymmetrical multiplayer. There are fourteen playable counselors in the game, but in one session, up to eight people can play.

The gameplay is straightforward. Jason is hunting to kill while counselors are escaping to survive. The main antagonist is literally unstoppable, and he gets new abilities in the course of the match. In movies, it seems that Jason mysteriously appears in several places at once and this feature was transferred into the game. When you play this character, you feel powerful and totally in control of what’s happening.

There are three maps available, each of which corresponds to one of three movies. Communication is very important for the survival of counselors. They must cooperate tightly to figure out how to escape and avoid being ruthlessly killed.

The game starts out with an attempt on your life by Handsome Jack, and it just goes downhill from there.If you’re familiar with the original Borderlands, many of the core story elements that made that game so fun are here: Claptrap, the chatty and often incoherent robot, is here to guide you along, and the playable characters from the original game make appearances as non-player characters (NPC) with whom you’ll interact.The mix of playable characters in Borderlands 2 is similar to its predecessor. If you happen to play Jason, you will be more inclined to come back for more gaming, but if you keep being one of the counselors, you might find the game a bit frustrating. Still, no matter who you play as, the game is addictive, especially to those who are fans of the film franchise.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a 1-on-7 multiplayer game, where one person plays Jason, and everybody else plays hapless, trope-y teenagers. Camp Crystal Lake is your playground, and as the teens, you either have to hide, run, and survive, or if you’re the ballsy type, try to take Jason out. As Jason, you have to kill as many people as you can in the most creative ways possible.

The story of the game is based on the tales that were set forth in the Friday the 13th movies. The game will not actually be replaying any of the movies but will feature characters and plot pieces from those films. There aren’t story missions to complete but rather simple goals like either surviving long enough to avoid getting killed by Jason, or taking on the role of Jason and attempting to find and kill all the camp counselors.
